Presented as my graduation project, this was THE THE’s first fashion show.

The title, “symmetry A symmetry,” expressed “the formless” through the gradual deconstruction of garments. Just as life returns to the sea—its original home—so too do clothes return to their own “sea,” the fabric itself. This concept overlapped the cycles of clothing and life.

For the second piece, I chose Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. The original text of this composition was a poem titled Ode to Freedom by a German poet, but due to political pressure at the time, it was released to the public as Ode to Joy. Deeply moved by the poem, Beethoven presented it as a symphony with lyrics—an act that was considered taboo for symphonies at the time, sparking fierce debate.

I chose this piece to align Beethoven’s conviction—“Some things must be spoken in words to be conveyed”—with my own stance: the desire to express emotion through clothing.
